Windows 8 is now out on the market and
surprisingly very affordable. If you have a newer Windows 7 computer,
you are probably wondering if you should upgrade to Windows 8. There are
a few factors to consider first before you start upgrading your
computer to this new operating system.
Windows 8 is a big improvement over the
past OS’s on the market today, and even, in my opinion, better than
Windows 7. Below are some of the reasons why I think you should upgrade
your computer to Windows 8 if you are able to.
There are some people, however, that
should not even consider upgrading their computer. Windows 8 is very
different than the past OS’s, and if you are a type of person that does
not enjoy learning new things you will not like Windows 8 and should not
upgrade. Also if the specs of your computer are outdated, using less
than 1 GB of RAM, or have less than 1GHz processor, you will not be able
to upgrade your computer.
Faster Start Up
There have been many tests performed
testing the start up time of Windows 8 compared to Windows 7 using the
same computer. The results of these tests show that Windows 8 starts up
more than twice as fast as Windows 7. Windows 8 also starts up faster
than Apple computers running bootcamp that have Windows 7 installed on
them.
New Apps
Windows 8 offers you a wide variety of
apps that are touch friendly. These apps can also display important
information on your Windows Start screen. This is completely impossible
to do on previous generations of Windows OS. You will find the Windows
Store, which is much like the Apple App Store, and find a wide variety
of different apps and they are very simple to install on your computer.
Uninstalling the apps is also just as simple if you decide you don’t
like something.
SkyDrive Integration
Microsoft also offers a cloud service
that you can use for online storage and much more. It allows you to
access and save your important files that you can easily access from
your Web browser or apps. You can also use this service to back up your
computer’s important settings, which is very helpful if you ever
purchase a new computer.
Better Security
It is being said that Windows 8 is by
far the most secure version of Windows on the market today. For example,
Windows 8 will stop a computer from loading an OS that has not been
signed by the publisher. All apps that you purchase are completely
tested so you know they are safe to use. Internet Explorer 10, Windows
8′s default browser, is also known to be much more secure than past
versions of Internet Explorer. Windows has really listened to their
customers and made Windows 8 more secure in every way.
Use Touch Input or Keyboard and Mouse
As you probably know, Windows 8 uses a
touch screen, which works much better than even the Apple iPad. If you,
however, do not like using a touch screen or do not have one, you can
still use your keyboard and mouse as you do now.
You should visit an electronics store
and give Windows 8 a try and see what you think. If you love to learn
new things, you should upgrade your computer real soon. If not, you can
still stay with Windows 7.
